How We Make Your Traditional Coir Doormat

To create your custom sized traditional backed coir doormat, we use large rolls of coir which are approximately 10 metres x 2 metres. This allows us to cater to a wide range of sizes and dimensions, ensuring that your doormat perfectly fits your specific needs. Our meticulous process involves cutting the coir to slightly larger than the required size and then delicately removing rows of the coir weave, one by one, until we reach the precise dimensions you have specified. We carry out each step with utmost care and attention to detail, ensuring that we craft your custom-sized doormat to perfection.

Once the coir has been tailored to your specifications, we begin the intricate process of hand-tying all of the loose weaves. This labour-intensive step guarantees that every strand is securely fastened, resulting in a durable and long-lasting doormat that can withstand frequent use. Once you have chosen the preferred thickness that suits your needs, the next step is to input your two measurements, specifying the length and width in millimetres, into the designated boxes.

Following this, our system will swiftly calculate the cost of the doormat based on your custom specifications, ensuring transparency and accuracy in the pricing process. Once you have done this, all you need to do is add the customised doormat to your basket. From there, checkout and leave the rest to us.

When you contact us, please include a rough sketch or diagram of the shape you need, including with the measurements of each and every side. The sketch doesn’t need to be professionally done or to scale; it just needs to clearly show the shape and measurements. Once we receive your details, we’ll promptly assess if we can work from the diagram or if we’ll need a physical template. In some cases, we may require a physical template, especially for mat shapes with irregular angles. Rest assured that our aim is to make the process as straightforward as possible for you, ensuring that you’ll receive a bespoke doormat that perfectly fits your unique requirements.

Delivery & Lead Times of our Traditional Coir Matting

We aim to make all traditional backed coir mats within 10 working days, however, during extremely busy periods this can extend up to 21 working days. If you require our current lead time, please get in touch and we can give you an estimate of our current times. Once dispatched your order should be delivered within 5 working days for mainland UK postcodes and up to 7 working days if you are located on a UK island or in Northern Ireland. Our team works diligently to expedite the production during peak times to minimise any delay in fulfilling your order. In the unlikely event that there are any unforeseen delays, we will promptly communicate with you and keep you informed every step of the way.

Advice and Tips for Creating Your Traditional Backed Coir Mat

1: When ordering a mat for a well, it’s important to reduce each measurement by 6mm. This adjustment ensures a perfect fit and prevents any inconvenience later on caused by an ill-fitting mat. Due to the traditional backing on the mat, over time and with use, the mat will naturally spread slightly. This organic expansion is a normal occurrence and is therefore why we recommend undersized each measurement by 6mm.

2: The key consideration when choosing the thickness of your doormat is to ensure that it allows for sufficient door clearance. If the doormat is too thick, it could potentially hinder the opening and closing of your door. Therefore, when making your selection, be mindful of this potential issue to avoid any inconvenience or restrictions in the functionality of your doorway.

3: All sizes are +/-3mm tolerance due to the natural characteristic of the weave structure of the mat.
